The Tairona culture

The Tairona lived in the coastal bays running along the foot of the Sierra Nevada. They farmed and fished, and also mined salt. They produced realistic and fantastic human and animal-inspired ornaments. From around AD 900 they settled further up the mountains, building stone cities, such as Ciudad Perdida, and developing impressive agricultural terraces.
